City of Kirkland Welcomes Residents To Discuss Development Ideas

A neighborhood center in the City of Kirkland is the focus of a “development regulations” study being conducted by city officials. The area of focus is the primary intersection of Houghton, at NE 68th Street and 6th Street South/108th Avenue NE. City officials want to discuss the possible future development of the area that could include residential, office and retail occupants. But some residents are already opposing what they fear is a development plan that could negatively impact the character of the neighborhood. City Senior Planner, Angela Ruggeri has tried to clarify that there is no specific development proposal on the table, but that the city is simply trying to review regulations for the area.

“Houghton/Everest Neighborhood Center Study” will review regulations for the area, primarily for limits to building heights, residential densities and business space sizes, as part of the normal process by the city to update its Comprehensive Plan,” Ruggeri said. A parallel success story to that of online casinos as a source of entertainment for players around the world has been that of online poker sites. As a matter of fact, there are many poker rooms online, but which is the best for you?.

But many residents in the neighborhood have interpreted conceptual designs as an actual proposal for a development project. To address residents’ concerns the city has planned several “Neighborhood Dialogues” that will take place at the Houghton Fire Station 22, 6602 108th Avenue NE. The next meeting is scheduled for October 9, 2012 at 7:00 pm.
