4 Memorable Spots For Christmas Light Viewing In Greater Seattle
During these darker times of the year in the PNW, it’s no surprise that some firmly take to the art of lighting up the night with their holiday displays. Some neighborhoods in the greater Seattle area even mandate a homeowner’s involvement in setting up a unique light display outside their home. For this reason and more it’s become a tradition in several neighborhoods around the city to create veritable pockets of winter wonderlands.
On top of the efforts of individuals around residential areas, there are also some bigger displays that are set up in the city. Many businesses utilize these fancy light displays to draw in foot-traffic in an otherwise slow time of the year for tourism and outdoor activities. We’ve put together four phenomenal places to view intricate holiday light arrangements the kids will love that are largely all free to view.
Candy Cane Lane
This is one of the eclectic neighborhoods that always offers stellar light displays free of charge for your family to view! Since 1949 Candy Cane Lane in the Ravenna neighborhood of North Seattle has been bringing in visitors from around the area to view whimsical displays. Twenty-three houses in a row all decked-out with lights, lawn ornaments, blow-ups and more for you and the kids to view. This display runs December 8th-January 1st so there’s time to check it out after Christmas!
Keener’s Christmas
This family in Bothell puts on a light display for the books. The Keener family has made a considerable mark in the area with their yearly Keener’s Christmas light showcase. Just Jeff and Candice Keener setting up over 500,000 lights at their home for your viewing pleasure. Not to mention their display helps raise money for the Ben Towne Foundation and serves as a food drive for HopeLink. You’ll want to stop by 16504 112 Pl. in Bothell for this truly heartfelt, and grandiose display.
Evergreen Lights
Also, a holiday favorite for families out in Snohomish County is the Evergreen Lights display at the Evergreen Church in Bothell. The kind people at this Church spend literally months putting together a display of over 500,000 lights. You and the kids can find them at 3429 240th St. SE and enjoy free cookies, cocoa, and naturally, a holiday family photo. This display runs nightly from 5-10pm from the beginning of December until Christmas Eve. Stop by for a one-of-a-kind light show dancing along to choreographed music.
